An “Israeli” was arrested last month and indicted today for allegedly being recruited by Iran to assassinate “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Shin Bet head Ronen Bar.

In a joint statement between the Shin Bet and the “Israeli” police, they added that the suspect was smuggled into Iran twice and received payments to carry out the missions.

Iran’s efforts to carry out the assassination operation intensified following the killing of Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh in its capital in July.

Hebrew media reported that the arrested man was an “Israeli” businessman who spent extensive time living in Turkey and communicated with both Turkish and Iranian people to develop the plans for the assassination in “Israel”.
